Life Skills Training Promoting Health and Personal Development
Life Skills Training is a comprehensive, research and outcome based prevention program that emphasizes proven skills training methods. It addresses all of the most important factors leading adolescents to use one or more drugs by teaching a combination of health information, general Life Skills, and drug resistance skills over a three year time period. The program is presented to the same students three years, starting in sixth or seventh grade. Some of the topics are repeated each year and are presented in a developmental progression. The first year is presented in 15 sessions, second in 10 and the third in 5-7. This program addresses all of the most important factors leading to adolescent use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
